“YouTube will not actually tell you, right out, exactly their definition of a view. Because it does vary a little bit. So the rule of thumb is usually it’s probably around 30 seconds. But if you have a shorter video, there’s different ways that they might calculate a view, depending on the type of video it is. But the rule of thumb you can be pretty sure is that people probably need to get at least 30 seconds into the video before it triggers YouTube to click up the counter of views.”
